Geoff Hayward (Volunteer Wellington) &
Rochelle Stewart-Allan (The Boring Fund)
Geoff Hayward is Wellington Relationships Lead (Kaihautū Piringa) for Volunteer Wellington. Founded in 1992 Volunteer Wellington has helped thousands of Wellingtonians discover how they can make a difference in our community through volunteering. At the same time, they have supported hundreds of the not-for-profits, community groups and grassroots organisations we know and love, to run stronger, more effective volunteer programmes.
Geoff will speak about Volunteer Wellington's current work in the community, including some exciting initiatives they have recently launched.
Rochelle Stewart-Allen is a co-founder of the recently launched The Boring Fund, a community led grant fund started by Rochelle and her co-founders who have spent years working in the not-for-profit sector. It is collectively funded by everyday people and provides $500 grants for small non-profits, but only for the boring stuff.

Greetings Rotary friends,
Another busy week passed. We all enjoyed hearing from Aparna and Charles giving their New Member talks and hearing about their path to New Zealand. Each new member brings richness and diversity to our busy club.
Last week your Board had a combined strategy meeting and board meeting. As a result of that session, we are now updating our Annual Plan. It builds on our activities by emphasising promotion and developing a strong social media presence for RCPN. Rotary is too good not to share!
We are grateful to Fiona Smith who is developing a social media strategy and will be working closely with me and with IPP Nicole to finalise and implement it. We will be inviting particularly younger members to become involved with this.
Don't miss out on the first of our casual brunches, which will be at Hotel Catalina in Lyall Bay at 11.30am on Saturday 8 August.
Finally, we look forward to two large club events coming up: the Radar Awards, recognizing the 'unsung heroes' in our community on 14 October, and the Grand Night Out on 21 October.
For the GNO, we have an impressive line-up of restaurants that are supporting us. Get a table together and be sure to invite newer members to join you.

is a special night in the Rotary Calendar
Here is a little info for those who are new to the evening……
About the Charity “Lifting the Lid on Youth Mental Health” (LTL)
The LTL programme has been developed by Rotary to provide funds to colleges and schools in Wellington. LTL has a simple yet profound mission – to help Wellington schools source additional or complementary interventions for students who have, or at risk of developing mental health issues.
Outcomes to date:
3.5 years since “Lifting the Lid” started in Wellington
1773 students supported
2125 sessions funded
12 students per week it equates to during the school year.
There are 14 participating schools in Wellington: 10 Secondary and 4 Intermediate Schools.
An outline of the event:
A restaurant hosts a table of 8 people for a two-course dinner without charge, but guests pay for all drinks consumed, and any other food.
A fun and exciting fundraising evening, offering guests an exciting night out.
A “blind draw” is held when guests find out where they will be dining for the evening. Tables are matched with a venue, by drawing out a venue name from one hat and a table name from another hat.
This week, members enjoyed hearing from two of our newest Rotarians, Aparna Dubey and Charles Little, who shared their fascinating life journeys, values, and experiences.
This isn’t the first time we have heard from ZEAL and as always, it’s inspiring to hear young people providing unconditional support to young people in need.
