I am constantly surprised at the wealth of information to be found on the Rotary International website. The site covers all things Rotary from the location and meeting times of every club in the world to information about our history, the structure, educational courses etc. It is well worth visiting to learn more about Rotary and its global impact.
On the role of Rotary’s global impact, on January 22nd Rotary and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation renewed their longstanding partnership to end polio, announcing a joint commitment of up to $450 million to support the global eradication of polio. Rotary are committed to raising $50 million per year over the next three years, with every dollar to be matched with two additional dollars from the Gates Foundation. This expanded agreement will translate into up to $450 million for polio eradication activities.
On Thursday I met with Peter Scholten and Erin Daldry from the Capital Chatterers Toastmasters Club. Last week, I mentioned there were 8 Toastmasters Clubs in the Wellington area, when in fact there are between 25-30!...We have arranged a joint meeting between ourselves and the Capital Chatterers on April 1st so we can learn more of what each Club does. At the meeting on 1st of April, Peter and Erin will be presenting the objectives etc of Toastmasters and how we can benefit from the association, so it should be an excellent session.
Next week’s meeting on the 5th will an historic occasion as we induct 4 new members to the Club. We will look forward to seeing you all there for this special meeting.
Have a great weekend and go the Canes
