A group of club members enjoyed the annual Changeover event at The Thistle Inn. Marc Rands handed over the Presidential reigns - and regalia - to Dawn Sanders for the upcoming Rotary year.
Congratulations to our latest recipients of the Paul Harris Award.
Our current Paul Harris award holders (minus Paula, who graciously took the photo!)
Many thanks to Heather, Louise and Philippa for organising an enjoyable evening and dinner.

Rotarian Needed!!
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 14 to 18. Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance, but they are self-governing and self-supporting.
A huge thank you to Kamini who has supported our Interact over the last wee while, but has recently had to step down.
If you are interested in taking over the supporting Rotarian role please contact Darryl.
Interested in changing the world?
You can watch past presentations organised by the ESRAG projects team on their website. They have a range of interesting speakers and topics every week, from Li-ion battery Recycling, to Art from Waste.
It's that time again!
It's the last meeting of the month, which means it's collection day!
Please bring items for the Wellington City Mission - anything is appreciated, but the items most needed this month are tinned fish; baked beans and spaghetti; milk powder and long life milk; toiletries and laundry products.
Dream Big!

Goal Setter Awards 2022
Thursday 11th August
Guest speaker Paula Tesoriero MNZM - New Zealand’s Disability Rights Commissioner
On Thursday 11th August the Rotary Club of Port Nicholson is hosting Paula Tesoriero, New Zealand’s Disability Rights Commissioner at a breakfast meeting in the Banquet Hall at Parliament beginning at 7.00am.
Paula is a Paralympian cycling gold medallist, was Chef de Mission of the NZ team at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, is a life trustee of the Halberg Foundation and in 2022 her focus will be on working to change attitudes to disability.
In addition, the Club will present three or more students with Goal Setter Awards. These are monetary awards presented to outstanding students who have shown they can set and achieve goals, have faced significant challenges in their lives and have given service to their community. Eligible students are those who are in at least their second year of study at a tertiary institution in the Wellington region and are working towards the completion of an undergraduate or post-graduate degree, a National Certificate, or structured workplace learning for completing a New Zealand Apprenticeship.
It is an excellent occasion for our members and the business community to enjoy a dynamic speaker and acknowledge some of our future leaders. As this event sold out in the past few years, I encourage you to purchase a table or individual seat(s) as soon as possible. A seat is $60 and tables of ten cost $600 (including GST). Please email your request to Richard.Brodie@Xtra.co.nz and an invoice will be issued. For further information please contact Richard on 027 4392424 or by email.
Port Nicholson Rotarians and Interactors teamed up with the Friends of Tawa Bush Reserves to plant trees last Sunday, postponed from the previous weekend. A fantastic job was done with 250 native trees planted in Wilf Mexted Reserve. We did the initial planting in this rugged area three years ago and it was fantastic to see how well our existing trees were doing as well as finishing planting that section of the reserve.
As only half of us could make the postponement tree planting date we’ve decided to make this a game of two halves and to run another tree planting event to get the other 250 trees planted on August 14.
I hope you can join us next time.
Thank you to everyone for your efforts!
From the President...
Many thanks to all who made the Changeover such a lovely occasion. Special thanks to Philippa and all the attendees, including outgoing AG Helen Algar and incoming Carol Green. It was wonderful to see the former members and wives – Bob and Elaine, Jenny (Young), Dixie, Debbie and all those who came for the dinner, many with partners as well.
Congratulations again to you, Marc on your year and thank you for ‘care-taking’ while I am away in London.
The incredibly timely arrival of the message from Rodney Cuthbertson, Goal Setter award recipient in 2006 (above), is a reminder of the ongoing benefit RCPN makes on helping, as I stated as a focus of the year, to maximise potential.
Thank you to all who have agreed to take on roles on the Board, whether as new, co- or mentoring Members, or in myriad other positions in various capacities.
Wishing all another productive and hopefully, healthier year.
Dawn
