A group of 18 of us, including partners and Dennis Small from the Cuba Street Club attended a fantastic training session at the Council Chambers and learned how to safely set traps for our Predator Free initiative. It is not quite as easy as it looks. Several of us, certainly me included, proved less than apt at assembling these rat and stoat traps
A big thank you go to Brenda and her husband Dave for organising and planning the session. The next step is to assemble and place these traps at the waterfront.
It was great to welcome Haley back into our Rotary family. Haley who is a Behaviour Specialist with Explore Behaviour Support was a very active and vibrant member of the Club and its wonderful to have her back with the group.
We have the results of our charities survey. The survey is one of the most important processes we undergo as a Club and determines which charities the Club will support with the proceeds from the annual Auction. We had a good response rate for the survey with 71% of members casting a vote. For the first time in about four years we are going to change our major charities, with the votes going to the Malaghan Institute and the Children’s Hospital. If you would like a copy of the results, please let either Bev or I know.
Finally, a big thank you again to Rick, Darryl, Tamaris, Peter, Richard, Mike, Nicholas, Paula, Ross, Bev, Tony, Noel and Mark Pickering for all the work they did on our most successful Monte Carlo night fund raiser. The goal was to raise $6000 to send an ambulance to Apia in Samoa. The team exceeded this goal by 25% and raised a whopping $7500. Well done and thank from all of us.
Have a great week
