Skill Data Base

A database is being compiled of member attributes and skills that would benefit charities. This is entirely voluntary, and a great idea! Please send three skills you have (e.g. fund raising skills, plumbing, computer skills) that you think could help a charitable organisation to David Shackleton

Auction Prizes wanted

This year's beneficiaries of our Charity Auction will be the Wellington Children's Hospital, The Malaghan Institute, and Wellington Homeless Women's Trust. If you have ideas or contacts who may donate prizes for the Auction, please let the subcommittee know.

In case you missed it...
Ed Hamilton's memorial looked to be a jovial affair, with fond memories shared of a dear friend.

It's easy to give a little
Our speaker this week showed us what one person with a vision and great networks can do to make a very positive impact on his community. Pat Shepherd established the One Percent Collective, a charity created to inspire and to make it very easy for kiwis to donate on a regular basis to charities they care about.

Rotary Give Every Child a Future Centenary project

An update from the Rotary South Pacific and Philippines Office:

Nine global grants comprise this large-scale project covering the nine South Pacific Island countries of Cook Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. The overarching objective is to protect 100,000 children from rotavirus, pneumococcal disease and cervical cancer in these countries over the course of three years. “Vaccinations continue in Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu and Nauru with Tokelau and Cook Islands hoping to start their programs by Immunisation Week on 24-30 April. While the COVID pandemic has caused delays RGECAF is committed to delivering the vaccine programme for three years in each country from whenever they start.” Of the total project budget of almost USD3.9 Million, USD3.2 Million hasalready been raised from district designated funds, Clubs and Rotarians, other Foundations, the Australian Government and World Fund matching from TRF.

 Rotary – 100 years – 100 Kauri trees - $100/tree

The Rotary Club of Takapuna North is launching a Centenary Project called The 100-100-100 Plant a Kauri Tree Project.  It regenerates kauri bush for $100/kauri tree and support the growth of kiwi numbers. The aim is for Clubs and individuals to support the project to plant 100 trees, each supported by five other native forest trees, resulting in a lasting grove of established native bush and extend the area for kiwi to regenerate. Gill and Kevin Adshead are providing the 10,000 sqm required on their farm in Manaia, on the Kaipara Harbour north of Auckland, at no cost in a dedicated lease, with planting starting in May/June 2022.
