What we value
Rotary was founded on principles that remain at the heart of the organisation today. These principles reflect our core values-integrity, diversity, service, leadership and fellowship.
Avenues of Service
We channel our commitment to service through the five Avenues of Service, which are the foundation of club activity. They are:
- Club Service focuses on making clubs strong. A thriving Club is anchored by strong relationships and an active membership plan
- Vocational service calls on all Rotarians to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society
- Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find a way to improve the quality of life of people in our communities and to serve the public interest.
- International service, we support this avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects.
- Youth Service recognises the importance of empowering youth and young professionals.
Our Club is very much aligned to these avenues, the Club is growing, and it was great to see two potential new members at the meeting on Wednesday. Hopefully both David Barnes and Jean Sloan (who has already volunteered to help with interviews) will join us in the new year.
This month, with the generous help from Harcourts, and some intrepid parkers, we have raised and will send some $2500 to help the local community on Samoa. Also, on the international front through Peter’s efforts in selling cases of wine, we have raised an additional $1400 to the End Polio Now campaign.
Locally, as the photos below show, through your kindness, we have donated some fantastic gifts, food and family products to the House of Grace. Also, Sue has sold about 24 Christmas Puddings and raised more funds for the Club.
Finally, thanks to contacts made by Tony, Grant Robertson Finance Minister and MP for Wellington will be our guest speaker on Wednesday. This will be an excellent way to end the year and we are expecting record attendance.
Have a great week
